Description: Sargassum fluitans, or broadblade , is a type of brown, free-floating seaweed characterized by its broad, toothed leaves on short stalks and the absence of spike on its air filled bladders. Unlike its counterpart, Sargassum natans, it lacks a central stem and instead forms a branched, leafy structure that helps it float on the ocean surface. This pelagic species drifts with winds and currents, forming the "Great Atlantic Sargassum Belt" and providing crucial habitat and food for marine life.
